The two major sources of information given out by midwives have been the NHS Pregnancy Book, a Department of Health, evidence-based, complete guide given to all expectant mother and father , supported by quite lots of leaflets. The Pregnancy Book was singled out by many parents as being very useful, complete and something that they referred to regularly. The usefulness of this ‘assist’ was primarily perceived as reassurance; that, as new parents, they have been all going by way of similar difficulties and experiences.
