Most newborns have a mild rash someday during the first week after delivery. The rash normally appears in areas of the body rubbed by clothing—the arms, legs, and back—and rarely on the face. Applying lotions or powders, utilizing perfumed soaps, and placing plastic pants over the diapers are more likely to make the rash worse, especially in scorching climate. Dryness and a few pores and skin peeling usually happen after a couple of days, especially in the creases on the wrists and ankles.
